How is called a table with ID and description for references?

I am not sure if it exists a special name for those tables that stores a value and its ID. That ID is usually used as foreign key in other tables.
Example:
Table: Position
ID Value
1 Doctor
2 Engineer
3 Lawyer
4 Dentist
5 Assistant
6 Accountant

It is called "table with ID and description for references" :-) I have never heard of a specific name for this. ID is your primary key, the Value is the description.

Why do you (think you) need a special term? I have seen these called "lookup tables".

I saw the definition for Lookup tables and it does not look like is the right one. It may sound silly but in Spanish we have a name for those kind of tables and when we have a meeting (in English) I would like to refer to those tables but I do no know how.
