Mac
$ rm -rf ~/.android/
$ rm -rf ~/.AndroidStudio2.1
Ubuntu
mv ~/.android ~/.android.old;
mv ~/.AndroidStudio2.1 ~/.AndroidStudio2.1.old
and restart the studio
Try removing tools/lib/common.jar from your ANDROID_HOME folder.
