Trying to display information from SQL Server database from two TextBoxes in application
I am trying to display the information stored in my database via two text boxes which are filled automatically by reading a text file.
I got the first textBox
to search the database and return the information in my gridView
. But I am having trouble displaying the second textBox
to display the information.
The problem is that the second textBox
has to search for the column name and then should return the information within that searched column.
Here is my code I have for the first textBox
(This works)
private void latestOwnTextBox_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
using (var conn = new SqlConnection())
conn.ConnectionString = @"Data Source=(LocalDB)MSSQLLocalDB;AttachDbFilename=
Here is the code for the second textBox
(this is where I am struggling to search for the column and display the information within that column)
private void inputOwnTextBox_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
using (var conn1 = new SqlConnection())
OwnersDB.mdf;Integrated Security=True";
conn1.Open();
using (var adapter1 = new SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM TBLOwn WHERE '%%' like @search1", conn1))
adapter1.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add("search1", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value =
"%" + inputOwnTextBox.Text + "%";
adapter1.Fill(dataTable);
if (dataTable.Columns.Count > 0)
dataTable.PrimaryKey = new DataColumn dataTable.Columns[0] ;
mainAMSDataGrid.DataSource = dataTable;
mainAMSDataGrid.Visible = true;
mainAMSDataGrid.Sort(this.mainAMSDataGrid.Columns[0], ListSortDirection.Descending);
conn1.Close();
This should then display the information from both searches from one entry in one line in my dataGridView
Thanks

Have you thought about using Entity Framework? It would make this code sooooooo much easier
