Image[edit]

I'm not sure what is meant by this edit summary and why the image was changed. The hammer and sickle symbol exists in 1000s of aesthetical variations, and there is no single correct version. The hammer and sickle cropped from the USSR flag is not the true version, and contemporary communist parties often avoid using that design. The stub template should have a symbol that identifies communism, not the Soviet state. There was a similar debate, in which I participated, regarding Template:Communism some time back. --Soman (talk) 19:27, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

The first use of the hammer and sickle was in the USSR flag. And the logo you're trying to keep is the most disproportionate of all hammer & sickle images in commons. I haven't seen any communist party or communist movement use the hammer and sickle in that proportion, in their oficial logos or banners. Kmaster (talk) 09:37, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
In what sense is it 'disproportionate'? The hammer and sickle is an abstract symbol, not a direct depiction of a real hammer and a sickle. --Soman (talk) 15:04, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
As I said, the first hammer and sickle appeared in the USSR flag. And most communist parties of the world who use hammer and sickle as their symbols use one as it appeared in the Flag of the Soviet Union. If you compare these to this symbol, it is far disproportionate.--Kmaster (talk) 06:01, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
